You may choose to either build a model of the cell using household materials OR create a graphic image of the cell using computer software.



  • Build a colourful 3-dimensional (not flat) model of an animal or a plant cell.

  • Try to build a stand for your model.

  • Choose materials that make your model sturdy/durable.

  • Include organelles from the "Science Power 9" textbook, Figure 1.3 (animal cell) or Figure 1.4 (plant cell) on pg. 12.

  • Label each organelle on the model or make a separate key or legend to identify the organelles.

  • Do not use any perishable food materials.


  • Use a graphics program to draw an animal or a plant cell.

  • Include organelles from "Science Power 9" textbook, Figure 1.3 (animal cell) or Figure 1.4 (plant cell) on pg. 12.

  • Label each organelle in your image.

  • Include your name in your image.

  • Save your image in one of these graphic formats: .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .psd, or .swf.

  • Submit your image on CD, DVD, floppy disk, or portable drive.
