Games:

The games on zeroBio are a lot like quizzes but they tend to have more graphics and something resembling a plot. I'm not a computer programmer or graphic artist so don't expect anything like Quake! Still, I hope you find something here that is fun to play and educational as well.

Some of the games include animations either with sound or without sound . You'll need a current version of the Flash player to view them.

Additional Flash animations intended to illustrate key concepts in biology, chemistry, and general science can be found on the Mixed Flash page.

Although all games have coloured grade flags to indicate the course they are recommended for, what part of the curriculum they cover isn't always stated. If you want to pick a game based on something you are currently studying, go to the Student Centre, choose your course and strand, and the appropriate items will be listed there.

You might find it useful to maximize your browser's screen space for games and quizzes. Press F11 and that should do the trick if your browser is up to date.

	Alien Attack First-person shooter in which you blow up alien planets while solving multiple-choice questions. It's all in a days work for you ... one hand on the rocket launcher and the other on your science textbook!
	Bone Breaker First-person shooter in which you have to free captive skeletons from an evil sorcerer. Requires general science knowledge.
	CyberStranded 1 You begin as a primitive single cell. As you struggle to survive you slowly evolve into higher and higher life forms. If you are strong and smart, you may even evolve into a human. And if you make it to that point in the game, you'll reach a secret website award, one of a few that are on this website.
	CyberStranded 2 - The Re-Seeding Project The second in the "CyberStranded" game series. All living things on Earth have been wiped out in a nuclear disaster and only a handful of scientists survived because they were in space at the time. With futuristic technology they will attempt to spark the evolution of new life on Earth.
	CyberStranded 3 The third in the series but there's no disaster or biochemical evolution. Instead, you've got a portable game pad which you use to practice questions on genetics, photosynthesis, and the circulatory system. And if you're good, you can reach the always popular secret website award.

	MedCity Hospital You are a visiting doctor at the most advanced hospital in the world. Your expert medical skills are needed to diagnose patients with some very mysterious diseases. Test your background in enzymes, hormones, cellular respiration, and general human anatomy/physiology on these MedCity patients.
	MedCity Hospital: Intensive Care Run around 4 levels of the MedCity Hospital pushing buttons, opening laser doors, and treating patients in this flash animated multiple-choice game.
	Sam Cisco: Hazard House Somebody screwed up BIG TIME! And now Sam Cisco, a retired chemical weapons specialist, is being called back to active duty clean up the toxic mess.
	Sam Cisco: More Hazard House Sam investigates the latest chemical disaster site, a residential home. This time the power is out and Sam's only got a spotlight with which to find the toxins that have invaded the house. There are two secrets in the game: a rare photo of Sam on a computer screen in Room 1, and the UP arrow momentarily illuminates the room.

	Tank Defender This is my first game created in Flash MX and using the cool vector export capabilities of Swish3D. Hop into a space-age tank and defend battlefield Earth from alien bombs, ships, and a few ridiculous objects hurled at you.
	tOXin A spaceship has returned to Earth following a trip to Mars and it's carrying a deadly strain of bacteria. You need to read the genetic code and determine the amino acid sequence for the lethal toxin that is being released by the bacteria. Maybe then a vaccine can be developed (see tOXin2 below). This game will require you to have some background in DNA structure, protein synthesis, and reading the genetic code. Ready to stop the outbreak?!
	tOXin 2 Scientists are beginning the first human trials of a vaccine to protect society from the bacteria from Mars. Nobody knows if the vaccine will work or what side effects it might have. You will be joining the "Infectious Disease Unit" to conduct experiments on a sample of human volunteers. If your experiments are successful, maybe civilization can beat the toxin! Topics in the game include cells, digestion, genetics, and circulation. Try to find the 4 hidden smilies.
	WordScrambles Choose from a number of different themes (ie. Ecology, Chemistry, etc.) each containing 10 puzzles. Puzzles consist of a word with scrambled letters and a clue.
	WordScrambles 2 A new kind of word scramble in which you solve the puzzle in your head and then check your answer. Don't type ... just click your way through themes covering blood vessels, endocrine glands, metabolism, etc.
